SATURDAY, JUNE 5, 2010 — MESSAGE FROM A COLLEAGUE

ISOMS Members:

Here's a message from a colleague...

Dear Doctors,

You received a previous email message regarding the Illinois Dental Mission of Mercy. The clinic will be June 11 and 12. We hope to treat between 1000-1500 people in the Oral Surgery clinic on those 2 days. Patients will be coming from all over the state and will obviously spread out quite a bit after they leave.

Most of the patients will have had very simple procedures. (We are not removing any impacted 3rds, for example.) However, some will need follow-up care. Each patient who leaves the Oral Surgery clinic will have post op instructions stamped in red, that read ORAL SURGERY MISSION OF MERCY ("M.O.M.").

If any patients contact your office with the stamped M.O.M. post op instructions, please evaluate and treat them. Thank you in advance for your help with this worthy volunteer effort. If you have any questions call me at 1-800-348-6645.

...and GO HAWKS!!!

Respectfully,

Steve Doran
Bloomington, Illinois

THURSDAY, APRIL 1, 2010 — MISSION OF MERCY UPDATE

ISOMS Members:

The message below is an update we are forwarding to ISOMS members at the request of Dr. Steve Doran, who is aggressively trying to organize the Dental Mission of Mercy Event to be held in Bloomington, June 10-13.

Dear Doctors,

I am contacting you again regarding our Dental Mission of Mercy scheduled for June 10-13, 2010, in Bloomington,IL. Our plan is to stamp each post-op instruction sheet with Illinois Mission of Mercy. There will be a phone number for patients to call post-op. Our plan is to screen for REAL need and then direct them to the nearest ISOMS member for palliative treatment. You will be able to identify them by the stamp on their post op sheet. Thank you in advance.

Also,we are a little short of instruments. We will make every effort to keep instruments separate, if you do bring your own. If you have any to donate we'll take anything functional; forceps, suction tips, anything. It is my understanding we can give you a deduction for fair value. Lastly, if the time isn't working out for you, offer your staff an opportunity to come. OMFS assistants make this type of clinic run smoother as I have learned from past experience.

Hope to see alot of you in June.My contact info illiniwek4evr@hotmail.com, or phone 309-663-2526.

Pura Vida, Steve Doran

MONDAY, JANUARY 25, 2010 — PROGRAM REMINDER

Greetings ISOMS Members:

Program Reminder —
The biannual ACLS Training and Certification program will be held on the weekend of February 27 and 28 at The Hyatt Lodge, in the Hamburger University Complex, across the pond from 'The Lodge', in Oak Brook. It was in the same location in 2008. Please respond as soon as you can so we can estimate the number of attendees as accurately as possible, and staff can be booked accordingly. We have 61 people registered to date.

There are still some rooms available for Friday and/or Saturday nights at The Lodge at a reduced rate ($89 for single or double occupancy) if you mention the ISOMS group. Reservations should be made by calling the hotel at 630-568-1234. The toll-free number is 800-233-1234. The cut-off date is Feb. 5, 2010.

We anticipate the training and testing ending by 12:30 PM on Sunday, based on past experience. We have hired Doug Miller and his staff from "ACES" — the same group we have used for the past three consecutive programs. Feedback has been entirely positive for this group of educators.

Questions? Let us hear from you.
